The Holy Spirit’s Work

Morning Glory

He will be Glorified

The Kingdom Fully Established

There will be none other

When the veil of mystery and uncertainty of our times is stripped way and the light of truth is revealed, this is what we shall see. There is so much pain, sorrow, grief, trials and obstacles we face as a result of sin and living in fallen bodies in a fallen world.  We live in the ‘in between’ period now before all is restored and made whole and pure as it was originally and will be again one day soon. But often our ‘light and momentary afflictions’ feel quite heavy, permanent and insurmountable.  So what do we make of it? Beloved, we must put all our hope, yes all 100% of it, on the Grace of our dear Lord Jesus Christ. [Romans 15:23, 1 Peter 1:13, Hebrews 6:19]

For this we know and stand firm in believing:

Jesus the Christ. Glorified. Above all others things that have a name. [Ephesians 1:17-23, Phil. 2:9-11]

When Jesus  ascended to heaven He sat down at the right hand of the father and he lives now to always  intercede on our behalf. [Hebrews 7:25]  He sent His Holy Spirit, the spirit of grace to be our counselor and guide.  The work of the Holy Spirit is to birth it’s baby, the Church, which is the body of Jesus [Acts 2].  When we speak of the supernatural work of the Holy Spirit, we often speak of signs, wonders, healings, conversions and the various manifestations of the spiritual gifts [1 Cor 12, Romans 12, Ephesians 4 ].  This is all the tangible, visible effect of what the Holy Spirit of God is doing. The pouring out and manifestations of the Holy Spirit is primarily for two divine reasons which can easily be missed at first glance:

1) To bring Glory to the name of Jesus Christ

2) To promote the Gospel of the Kingdom

Jesus is the rightful King who will one day restore his rightful rule and reign over all creation.  We are co-heirs, sons & daughters made to rule under his authority over creation and help usher in His Kingdom. The outcome is already determined. Jesus is victorious and now works through the Holy Spirit to bring all glory to Him and for His Father God; whom we affectionately call Abba Daddy. So as believers by faith in the all-sufficient work of Christ, we must choose a “restful perseverance” and “supernatural peace” in our adversity, recognizing that even when we don’t get all the answers or breakthrough immediately, the Holy Spirit is actively working even when we don’t sense Him. The result will always be to bring  Glory to the great Name of Jesus and to promote the advancement of the Gospel of the Kingdom. This is True whether we realize it or not. And is it true in both the high mountaintop and dark valley experiences of our lives.

May His Grace Rest upon us all.

Christmas as Worship

“How would your family’s experience of the Christmas season change if you viewed all of Christmas as  worship to  Jesus?”

christmas call to worship

That was the question Jesus posed to me this morning as our family sat by the fire to enjoy our rainy Christmas morning. What if  your primary focus without distraction for everything at Christmas was a means by which you fully & openly worship and exalt the King, Jesus?

What if… you  viewed every single thing about Christmas [both the sacred and secular] – the lights, presents, tree, stockings, great food and fellowship with family and friends, Santa Clause, ornaments, snowmen, as worship.  All the Christmas songs, stories, symbols and traditions were all pointing to the exaltation and worship of one thing- Jesus.

When the veil is removed, this is what Jesus is up to and what He desires of us.

Christmas as Worship.

It would change everything!  It will. It does.

Colossians 1:15-20 (NLT) 15 Christ is the visible image of the invisible God. He existed before anything was created and is supreme over all creation, 16 for through him God created everything in the heavenly realms and on earth. He made the things we can see and the things we can’t see— such as thrones, kingdoms, rulers, and authorities in the unseen world. Everything was created through him and for him. 17 He existed before anything else, and he holds all creation together. 18 Christ is also the head of the church, which is his body. He is the beginning, supreme over all who rise from the dead. So he is first in everything. 19 For God in all his fullness was pleased to live in Christ, 20 and through him God reconciled everything to himself. He made peace with everything in heaven and on earth by means of Christ’s blood on the cross.
